OMG GUYZ!

Its been a while! :D
And I missed this but I feel like i've lost myself in a blur of bad times and its time to get back on track and find the f a b u l o u s Elle Bea again. ;)

So to start this new school year off with a bang I'm going to start working on my 'Office wear'.

Its all so mundane.

I want some vintage love in there.
So I'm off to the charity shop this afternoon and am looking to find a/a way of making and top like this:

I like the high waisted trousers on the left and the top in the middle, but the bangles on the left, my lord! Primarni much?!
The whole 40s feel is coming back in again this winter so fitted office gears pretty cool.
Im gonna head to my fav spots and see what treasures I can find.
Hopefully I'll have something to post you beauties.

My customised W a r e h o u s e dress.

So I told you on my one about charity shops that I had got a new dress.
This is said dress, Age Concern £4.99
They tried to take the tags out but a savvy shopperista knows this is bla-ha-tantly warehouse. :')

I took the lining out as it kept sliding all over the place when I wore it. Then I made a pleat out of said lining as it was a bit low cut.

This is the final product. I also lopped a couple of inches off the bottom as it was slightly too large.

Charity shops.

I'm a strong believer in the fact that Charity Shops are NOT for Grannies.

I used to go shopping shopping all of the time like topshop, warehouse, dotty p's. But then I lost my job, and tbh the clothes you buy arent worth the money. Now, I'd been in charity shops a few times and picked up a couple of items, but since then I hardly ever buy full price!

You may think oh I only have 1 charity shop in my village or whatever.

well I live in a really small small town and you have to catch the bus to a slightly larger town to even have a clothes shop. But my little line of shops which is just a walk away suits me down to the ground nowadays. 3 charity shops, a superdrug (i love makeup too) and a library. :)

This is what I picked up yesterday from Kathryn House Hospice £2.50

This is a little crop top which i think is originally from france which says the three penguins on it. :') Its so sweet.

I also bought a dress but I havent got any pictures where I dont look like a mong so I'll bring you that in a bit. :)

My Final Pieces

These are my final pieces which I've just handed in for marking for my As Art Textiles course.

1. Swan Lake Tu-tu

The whole garment. Its made mostly out of clingfilm and bubble wrap which is an absolute bum to sew on and my machine now makes a noise like a steam train all of the time. But it was worth it. Its a bit smaller than life size because when I made the leotard it came out a bit too big in the clingfilm but then when you iron clingfilm it shrinks.
The main skirt arial view. yes. It is resting on my toilet. :')

The main leotard which is covered in white feathers.

This is the neckline which is trapped and melted wax crayons and bits of cut up foil. I love the reflections in this bit; Which coincidentally is the title of the unit. I looked at water and then went onto swan lake, and with a bit of history in ballet, created this piece which has lived on my wardrobe for about 2 months.

Oh My...

Okay guys. So 4months of nothing but tumbleweed...
and I'm Back!

These last four months have been a little bit hectic for me, as all my art textiles coursework was due in. But i did it guys! Which now means I have three beauts of projects to show you which if I'm honest I'm really proud of.

Im just popping out to do a bit of composition for my music now but woah your gonna love it when I get back. :)

Markus Lupfer.

Ive brought to you a couple of this guys stuff before because in my eyes he really is a fashion genius. So heres a selection of his stuff. P.s if you were to buy me anything from this collection. I have the right to scream and marry you. :)
How much do I LOVE THIS! Im feeling a re-creation coming on.

Although the picture quality is RUBBISH. This outfit is most definately not. I love how classic the jacket feels. I love the colours. The monotone. I love; love; love the lace shorts. Jesus. I want all of this.

Elle Bea. x

Stripey Stripey Stripey.

So stripes are in. They're called Breton Stripes.
Layer it over skinnies or jeggins if you must (though i HATE them; with a passion). Blazer's are still cool too. Go for it.

Heres a selection to get your mouth watering; though tbh larger ladies stay away from this trend. It will only make you look bigger. Horizontal stripes will look wiiiiiide.
New Look £25. High Street Bargain. I also love the button details on the shoulder of this.

This leotard from Miss Selfridge will only set you back by £18! Woah. Want it.
Wear it under some high waisters to get that slim figure you're all looking for. Gold chains would look mint with this too. I also love, love, love the scoop neck of this. Beautttt. Buy Buy Buy!!

And for the higher paid of us...

Ever the fan of Markus Lupfer; this dress makes me shiver with exitement. This sequined little number will cost you £795. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh. I do love him though. He brought us that cute jumper with the polar bear on. Also sequined if I remember correctly. I feel a blog coming on. :')

ALSO people. This is on trend with the red, white and blue which is plaguing our stores ONCE again. Get on it. I'm sure it will be around for a few years yet. Scoff. Since when did fashion get so uninventive.

Check out these babys from Topshop.

These are fierce. The actual meaning of the word fierce. But to be honest, standing ta around 5"11 these babys aren't gonna do much for me. :')

MY NEW EIFFEL TOWER TOP!!! <3

So as i said in an earlier blog i really wanted a top with an eiffel tower on. This afternoon was a snow day so I made it! And i'm wearing it to work tonight, so lets hope people like it. Heres some pics sweeties. :) me bein vain. as per. :')

The flag which is on white lace.

Ps I machine embroidered this. My machine doest have the option to take the feed dog down and I dont own an embroidery foot. All i did was cut up some old plastic and sellotape it over the feed dog. Then i punched a hole in it for the needle to go through. Take the presser foot off and lift it up out of the way. Sorted. Sew as you please. :')

Elle Bea.x

Adjusting the tension on the bobbin...

OMG yesterday when i was making my little floral bag the tension on my sewing machine completely messed itself up. It's never done it before and having taught myself to sew I was clueless to be honest. My mom had a look. We tried changing the needle, changing the bobbin reel...etc etc.

The internet if i'm honest was not much use, it was all to detailed and I couldn't figure out what the jargon was. Eventually I found a site, deciphered the codes that it spoke it; and now I shall bring a nice simple version to you!

Problem: Ah! Help, I have loops on the bottom of my fabric like so;
The top image shoes you looking at the top of your fabric and if the tension is fine it will look like and be pretty and nice...
But if you look at the back and there is loops everywhere! Your bobbin tension has gone!

Solution: Take out the bobbin from the bobbin case and locate the little screw on the case.
As you can see here it is labelled as the Lower Thread Tension Screw. Then all you have to do is tighten it by turning it a quarter turn to the right. Righty tighty left loosey. Eh voila!

It really is that simple. And to think. I got my wig off about that!

What I do on a Sunday.

Sunday is my sewing day and today I finally got round to doing a project from the book my sister got me for christmas. Its Cath Kidston who I truly love, she has such girly patterns and flowery vintage prints. So I made a bag that came with her latest book 'Sew!". Heres some pictures for you;

Hope you like it. It was fun to make tbh.

AMG OVER 100 VIEWS!

Omg. I've had this blog less than a week.
And already have over a 100 views.

Thanks facebook and twitter.
And also Rachel Suzanne. (You need to send me your photography link so I can big you up on here)
And K-Smith, for every five seconds going I LOVE IT. And also for updating me on how many views I have on facebook.

Lets keep it going eh?

Elle's Must Haves.

When I say Elle this time. I don't mean me, I mean the fashion monster thats eating at our heart strings and killing our individuality; in a way in which, without, nothing or no one would be cool. Glad we're clear about that.
This blog is about what Elle is calling 'Chalet Chic'. So if you're a bit chilly really. Like me today, a couple of us went sledging this afternoon and I was a bit chilly-vanilly, so I thought I'd bring you some of the items I would have loved to have.
This is a new Bomber Jacket by Monclar at Start. You can pay £479.50 for this badboy if you really want to look like the michelin man.
FAIL. N'awwww. Now thats just a bit cute, even though it is a totally giant scary bear. The fact that hes polar makes it perfect for your snow escapades. Topshop does a couple of cute jumpers like this, one of which has an ultra cute dog on, and River Island has some to. Just though you'd like to know, because to wear this bear you would need a whole lot of 'dolla'. £245 to be precise. But it is Markus Lupfer...AND ITS SEQUINED. Worth it.
WIN!
Usually, because of the style of this hat, I would say FAIL, purely based on the fact that my local market sells them in these neon colours which makes me want to vom.

Although, this hat has something going for it which I like. The reindeers are hot. Just look at those little cuties, who wouldn't want to wear them on their noggin'? All yours £12 from Topshop.

WIN. But remember dappy from N-Dubz is not a good look.

*Bumtingz*

Finally, if you know me you'll know I love to wear coats that look like there for men, because they're always big and comfy and trampy. Which is probably a bad thing to love but hey.
I would probably marry this coat.
So if someone has £345 so I can buy this Vannessa Bruno felted tweed coat, I'd be eternally greatful.
WIN!

Ugg-(ly) Boots.

Ugg. is short for Ugly I'm sure.

Weheyy. You just spent £150 plus to look like Homer Simpson.

Now you feel stupid don't you?.

My sister owns two pairs of these ridiculous shoes. Re-Dic-U-Lous.
Make size 6's look like size 9's. The incredible power of the Ugg-Liess.
And the cheap pairs are worse....oh lord.

Elle Bea. x

Drool girls, drool....

Not only is he gorgous but he can sing also! Paolo Nutini first broke onto the music scene with 'Jenny don't be hasty' a few years back. And guess what hes been back for a while, but his music is slowly growing more and more popular.

I suggest 'Pencil full of lead' which was the song which inspired me to tell you all because it just does something to me. Shivers down my spine.

You know what else. Somehow he makes a lisp sexy. :')

Knitwear.

Love or Loathe?

This blog has been inspired by two things.
a) The fact that Knitwear is "In" at the moment.
b) There was a girl today I sore wearing so much knitwear, she may as well have been a sheep. No lie. She looked a bit silly-billy.
Topshop.
I'm torn. I want to like it. It ticks all the right boxes. But somehow I just go no. Its like a fishermans net/my nans cardi, and the brown marbely buttons dont rub me the right way.
FAIL.
OMG. YOU WOULD HAVE TO PRY ME OUT OF THIS. This is epic on so many levels. Parisiene flamingos? Yes. Please. Oh god...buy me this someone right now.

WIN!

All together now! N'awwwwwwwwwwwwww . This cute little panda beanie could be yours for a mere *scoff*...£19.99 from River Island. I like them but everyone has them and personally I'm big into the felt, yeah felt, not wool, berets. :)

Personally. Ive not be convinced.
Knitwear, friend or foe?
Lovely or lumpy?
Bootylicious or just plain Ugg.

I don't really know about Knitwear. I know it's like incredibly fashionable at the moment but is it really a good look for curvacious ladies. I'd like to point out right here that I'm not stick thin, (not fat either a'thankyou), but knitwear clings to me in all the wrong places and I find it hard to wear so tend to go for jerseys.

If you can't find it...

Simply make it yourself.

I re-heally want a t-shirt with an eiffel tower on it.
I can't find one anywhere at the right price, so i figured i could just sew one onto a shirt.
So i went to buy the shirt just, Grey size 16, absolutely massive on me.
But i figuered i could tailor it and shiz.

Will post pictures...

Cameo

Okay. I am in Love Love Love with anything cameo personally.
Momma bear gave me her old gold cameo ring the other day with the matching earrings and there beauts.
*Elle Bea tries to take photo of said beauty but does it no justice...*

So I though I'd bring you some lovely cameo to feast your peepers on!

From retro-jewellery.co.uk £9.99. Woah good price. Better buy two. Incase I need another one...

OOO. This one is hitting the whole parisienne nail on the nogging too. Lav' it.
Only £6.99, put it on your blazer and be like. Boo'yah.
And finally, the full on oldschool vintage cameo broach. This one is beautiful if you ask me. :')
Some pur-chase it for me?

John Galliano Spring Summer 2010

Genius.
Or insane.
I'm voting for the first one.

His spring 2010 ready-to-wear (apparently, though tbh, would you ever wear that stuff straight off the catwalk?!) is full of all the lovelies one is looking for from a spring collection!

Yellows, peaches, oranges, floral prints, floaty fabrics, lace and crothet, and the ever popular, ever stylish macs! This year is like an extremely yummy blancmange with all the trimmings, bows and feathers and all.
You know what I completely fell for in this collection though. The mixture of ideas. The floaty florals vs the edgey, sharp net face hiding headpieces, demanding to be seen, but inncinuating shyness all the same!

This fab-u-losa headpiece was teamed with a yellow bubble butt dress which screamed spring vintage to me. The blue/grey mac finished off this outfit extroadinarily. Want. Want. Want.

Eclectic Eccentricity Jewellery.

I love this site. Check it out. And buy. Oh Lord Buy.

Who bides her Time.

I am in love.

This is gorgous, abso-fruit-ly beautiful. I love love love the fact that its slightly amber coloured and not like, hi I'm white. Not convinced? Need another reason to buy?

A red haired lady (If you've read my earlier blog. I LOVE RED HAIRED LADIES.) modelling said beauty. Check that out.

BUY FROM http://eclecticeccentricity.bigcartel.com/product/who-bides-her-time-ee-limited-collection

Fashion Alert: Time pieces on chains are in. Dotty P's has one for £12 currently. I'm a pround owner.

L.B

The Parisienne.

One of the key looks us sheep de la fashione shall be copying this spring is...

The Parisienne.

Ooooh I likey. This to me, speaks a kind of high class vintage, high waisters, tiny sun glasses, little dogs and berets.

Topshop seems to think this means nautical. 70% of items are red, white, blue and striped! Yet, I've gotta hand it to them, they haven't bought the anchors out from last summer like a couple of shops I've seen.

Some of the items on here have quite a dark vintage feel to them which i absolutely adore, check out this purse £35.

I FREAKIN' LOVE CAMEO.

Big bows, and lace neckercheifs appear to be key, alongside cameo'd anythings.

Continued fashion: That peachey/pink that is everywhere at the minute is going to carry on smoothly into spring but instead of mixing it with grey, a deep blue is the way forward!

(Lace wrist gloves ONLY £4! from Asos.com)

Lace is rearing its ugly, i mean beautiful, head once again this season. So I think I'm going to invest in a pair of lace gloves to wear with a spotty blouse.
Spots. Are. In. Btw. Unless you hadnt already realised.
Cruella de ville must be going nuts!
To my general suprise, Dorothy Perkins, are spot on. ;)

Personaly, I'm well exited for this look. Lav' a bit of vintage stylin'.

L'B.
